How to do it
Hold a kettlebell and hike it back to swing it up to chest height with a hip snap. As it settles, catch it in goblet position against your chest and immediately drop into a squat, lowering until your thighs are at least parallel. Stand back up, then flow into the next swing.
- 1Explosive hip drive on the swing, then a controlled catch at your chest
- 2Quads and glutes loading as you sit down into the goblet squat
- 3A braced core linking the swing and the squat smoothly
Common mistakes
- Letting your lower back round during the swing's backswing
- Crashing into the squat instead of catching the bell first
- Letting your knees cave or heels lift in the squat
