How to do it
Lie back on an incline bench and press your palms flat against each other in front of your chest. Squeeze your hands together hard and press them up and away from your upper chest until your arms are nearly straight, then bring them back in under control. Keep the inward pressure constant.
- 1Feel your inner chest fire from squeezing your palms together
- 2Keep maximum inward pressure through the whole press
- 3Drive up and slightly toward your chin on the incline angle
Common mistakes
- Don't let the inward pressure relax at the top or bottom
- Avoid shrugging your shoulders up toward your ears
- Don't arch your back off the bench to push
Muscles worked
The incline svend press mainly works the upper chest and mid chest, with the triceps and front delts assisting.
