How to do it
Place your hands on the seat of a sturdy chair slightly wider than your shoulders and walk your feet back into a straight-line plank. Lower your chest toward the chair, then press back up to the start. The incline reduces the load and makes the push-up easier.
- 1Feel your chest and triceps working as you press up from the chair
- 2Keep your body in a straight line and your core engaged
- 3Lower your chest to the seat and press up fully
Common mistakes
- Avoid letting your hips sag or pike up
- Don't flare your elbows wide; keep them at a moderate angle
- Don't bounce; control the tempo down and up
Muscles worked
The incline push-up with chair mainly works the upper chest and mid chest, with the triceps, lower chest, upper abs, and front delts assisting.
