How to do it
Place your hands on a box or bench slightly wider than shoulder-width and walk your feet back so your body forms a straight line. Lower your chest to the box, then press back up to full arm extension; the incline reduces the load for an easier push-up.
- 1Chest and triceps working as you press up off the box
- 2Body held in one straight line with a braced core
- 3Full lower to the box and full press to lockout
Common mistakes
- Letting the hips sag or pike up
- Flaring the elbows out wide; keep a moderate angle
- Bouncing off the box; control the tempo
Muscles worked
The on box incline push-up mainly works the upper chest and mid chest, with the triceps, lower chest, upper abs, and front delts assisting.
