How to do it

Stand facing a wall with your hands on it for support and lower into a half squat. Holding that half-squat depth, lift your heels off the floor onto your tiptoes and slowly lower them back down, repeating the calf raise while staying in the squat.

  1. 1Feel your quads holding the half-squat position
  2. 2Feel your calves contract as you rise onto your toes
  3. 3Use the wall lightly just for balance, not to hold you up

Common mistakes

  • Don't let your knees cave inward in the squat
  • Avoid bouncing up onto your toes; raise slowly
  • Don't lean your full weight into the wall
