How to do it
Stand facing a wall with your hands on it for support and lower into a half squat. Holding that half-squat depth, lift your heels off the floor onto your tiptoes and slowly lower them back down, repeating the calf raise while staying in the squat.
- 1Feel your quads holding the half-squat position
- 2Feel your calves contract as you rise onto your toes
- 3Use the wall lightly just for balance, not to hold you up
Common mistakes
- Don't let your knees cave inward in the squat
- Avoid bouncing up onto your toes; raise slowly
- Don't lean your full weight into the wall
