How to do it
Start in a forearm plank with your body in a straight line from head to heels. Keeping your core braced, rotate your hips to one side, dipping toward the floor without touching, then rotate back through center and over to the other side. Move slowly and keep your shoulders square.
- 1Feel your obliques control the hips as you rotate side to side
- 2Keep your body in a straight line with no sag in the hips
- 3Brace your whole core to stay stable through the twist
Common mistakes
- Don't let your hips drop or pike up between reps
- Avoid rushing the rotation; stay slow and controlled
- Don't let your shoulders shift off your elbows
Muscles worked
The front plank with twist mainly works the obliques and lower abs, with the upper abs, glutes, and front delts assisting.
