How to do it
Hold a forearm plank with your body in a straight line. Without rotating your hips, lift one foot and tap it out to the side, then return it and alternate sides each rep.
- 1Feel your core fight to keep your hips square as each foot moves
- 2Keep your glutes tight and your spine neutral throughout
- 3Brace your abs hard before every toe tap
Common mistakes
- Avoid letting your hips rock or twist as you tap
- Don't let your lower back sag toward the floor
- Don't hold your breath; breathe steadily through each rep
Muscles worked
The front plank toe tap mainly works the lower abs and obliques, with the upper abs, glutes, front delts, and hip flexors assisting.
