How to do it
Stand or sit with your legs extended and hinge forward at the hips, reaching toward your feet. Gently rock in and out of the fold, deepening the stretch along the hamstrings and glutes with each repetition while keeping your spine long.
- 1A stretch along your hamstrings and glutes as you fold
- 2Your hips hinging while the spine stays long
- 3A gradual deepening with each gentle rock
Common mistakes
- Pulling aggressively to force the stretch
- Rounding your back or collapsing your chest down
- Locking your knees or holding tension in your shoulders
Muscles worked
The forward fold and rock mainly works the hamstrings and glutes, with the lower back and calves assisting.
