How to do it

From a wide stance, bend your front knee over your ankle and keep your back leg straight. Rest your front forearm on your thigh or hand on the floor, and reach your top arm over your head, opening your chest toward the ceiling. Hold and breathe, then switch sides.

  1. 1A long stretch down your top side from hip to fingertips
  2. 2Your chest opening as you rotate toward the ceiling
  3. 3Your front thigh and hip working to hold the lunge

Common mistakes

  • Letting your front knee collapse inward past your ankle
  • Collapsing your chest down toward the floor instead of opening up
  • Holding your breath instead of breathing into the stretch
