How to do it

Lie on your back and lift your hips and legs so your feet point toward the ceiling, supporting your hips with your hands if needed. Cycle your legs in a continuous pedaling motion, extending one leg while drawing the other knee in. Keep the movement smooth and your core braced throughout.

  1. 1Constant tension in your lower abs holding the hips up
  2. 2Hip flexors and quads driving the pedaling motion
  3. 3Smooth, controlled circles rather than jerky kicks

Common mistakes

  • Letting your lower back arch off the floor
  • Dropping the hips and losing the elevated position
  • Holding your breath as you pedal

The elevated cycling mainly works the lower abs and hip flexors, with the upper abs, quads, and obliques assisting.
