How to do it
Place your hands on a sturdy raised surface such as a bench or box, set just wider than shoulder width, and walk your feet back into a plank. Lower your chest to the edge of the surface, then press back up to full arm extension.
- 1Feel your chest and triceps drive you away from the surface
- 2Keep your core braced and your body in one straight line
- 3Press through your palms until your elbows lock out
Common mistakes
- Avoid letting your hips sag toward the surface
- Don't flare your elbows out past 45 degrees
- Don't let your head drop or jut forward
Muscles worked
The elevanted push-up mainly works the mid chest, with the triceps, lower chest, front delts, upper chest, and upper abs assisting.
