How to do it

Stand in an athletic stance with your knees soft and weight on the balls of your feet. Shuffle or step quickly to touch a marker at one corner, then push off and move to touch the opposite corner, staying low and changing direction sharply. Keep your movements fast and controlled.

  1. 1Your quads and glutes loading and driving each change of direction
  2. 2Light, quick feet staying on the balls of your feet
  3. 3A low, athletic stance ready to push off in any direction

Common mistakes

  • Don't stand up tall between touches; stay low and loaded
  • Avoid crossing your feet or losing your balance on the cuts
  • Don't let your knees cave inward as you change direction
