How to do it

Sit on a bench with your legs spread and lean forward slightly. Rest the back of your working upper arm against the inside of your thigh and let the dumbbell hang. Curl the weight up toward your shoulder by contracting the biceps, then lower under control. Keep the upper arm braced against your leg the entire set.

  1. 1Feel a hard peak contraction in the biceps at the top
  2. 2Keep your upper arm pinned against your thigh
  3. 3Lower slowly and feel the biceps stretch at the bottom

Common mistakes

  • Don't swing the weight up using your shoulder or back
  • Avoid letting the upper arm slide off your thigh
  • Don't cut the range short at the bottom
