How to do it

A cluster pairs a clean with a front squat thruster. Clean the load to your shoulders, drop into a front squat, then drive up and press overhead. Lower fully between reps and reset each time to repeat the full sequence.

  1. 1Full-body power linking the clean, squat, and overhead press
  2. 2Strong leg drive carrying through into the overhead lockout
  3. 3A braced core stabilizing the front rack and the overhead position

Common mistakes

  • Pressing before your hips finish extending out of the squat
  • Rounding your back as you clean the load from the floor
  • Letting your knees cave inward under the squat

Muscles worked

The cluster mainly works the quads, glutes, and front delts, with the triceps, upper traps, hamstrings, side delts, forearms, lower back, upper abs, lower abs, and calves assisting.
