How to do it
Stand in a doorway or beside a wall and place your forearm against the frame with your elbow at about shoulder height. Keep your arm fixed and slowly turn your chest away from the wall until you feel a stretch across the front of your shoulder and chest. Hold, breathe, then switch sides.
- 1Feel a stretch across the front of your shoulder and chest
- 2Keep your forearm planted and rotate your torso slowly away
- 3Stay tall and relaxed with your shoulder pulled down
Common mistakes
- Do not push into sharp pain at the front of the joint
- Avoid shrugging the shoulder up toward your ear
- Do not let your lower back arch as you rotate
