How to do it

Stand facing a low cable pulley and rest the back of your working upper arm against a preacher pad or your own braced thigh so the elbow is fixed. Grip the handle with your palm up and curl toward your shoulder, then lower slowly under tension. Finish all reps on one arm before switching.

  1. 1The biceps doing all the work as you curl the handle up
  2. 2Your upper arm pinned to the pad with the elbow locked in place
  3. 3A hard squeeze at the top and a slow, controlled lowering

Common mistakes

  • Avoid swinging your torso or using momentum
  • Don't let your wrist bend back or rotate
  • Don't let your elbow drift off the pad as you tire
