How to do it
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees and hips to load, then explode upward, extending through your ankles, knees and hips. Land softly with knees slightly bent to absorb the impact.
- 1Bend your knees and hinge at your hips before exploding forward; you should feel your glutes and hamstrings generating power
- 2Swing your arms to help propel yourself and maintain coordination
- 3Land softly on the balls of your feet with your knees bent, feeling your muscles absorb the impact
Common mistakes
- Don't land on your heels or with stiff legs, cushion your landing through your hips and knees
- Avoid jumping without fully extending your hips and driving through your legs
- Don't lean excessively forward or arch your back; keep your chest up and torso neutral
