How to do it
Stand in a boxing stance with hands up to guard your face. Pivot your right foot and hips and swing your right arm in a tight horizontal arc, keeping the elbow bent at about 90 degrees. Return to guard and repeat.
- 1Feel the power come from your hip and foot pivot
- 2Keep your elbow level with your fist through the arc
- 3Snap the punch and return straight to guard
Common mistakes
- Don't throw the hook from just your arm
- Avoid dropping your other hand from guard
- Don't overswing past your centerline and lose balance
