How to do it
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees and hips to load, then explode upward, extending through your ankles, knees and hips. Land softly with knees slightly bent to absorb the impact.
- 1Squat down and explode upward to jump onto and over the box; you should feel your glutes and quads powering the jump
- 2Swing your arms for momentum and drive your knees high to clear the box
- 3Land softly on the far side, bending your knees to absorb the impact
Common mistakes
- Don't drag your toes or catch your foot on the box, commit to the jump
- Avoid landing with straight legs or stiff knees; cushion the landing with your hips and knees
- Don't rush into the next rep without re-setting your stance and balance
