How to do it

Combine a burpee with a box jump. After the push-up, instead of jumping up, jump onto a box or platform.

  1. 1Complete a full burpee with your chest to the floor before jumping; you should feel your chest, shoulders, and arms working in the push-up
  2. 2Drive explosively through your hips and legs to jump onto the box; feel your glutes and quads power the ascent
  3. 3Land softly on top of the box and stand tall; maintain a tight core throughout the movement

Common mistakes

  • Don't let your hips sag or your chest collapse during the push-up portion
  • Avoid slamming your feet onto the box; absorb the landing with bent knees
  • Don't rush through the reps at the expense of form, quality and control come first
