How to do it

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and squat to at least parallel. Drive up and lift one leg out to the side, lower it, squat again, then drive up and lift the same leg straight out in front, alternating the pattern.

  1. 1Your quads and glutes driving each squat up
  2. 2The outer hip working on the side lift and the hip flexor on the front lift
  3. 3Your standing leg holding balance through both lifts

Common mistakes

  • Do not let your knees cave inward in the squat
  • Avoid leaning the torso to swing the leg up
  • Do not round your back; keep your chest tall
