How to do it
Stand tall with hands at your chest. Step one leg back into a reverse lunge, lowering the rear knee toward the floor, then rotate your torso over your front leg. Untwist, drive through the front heel to stand, and alternate sides.
- 1Front glute and quad working as you lower into the lunge
- 2Obliques rotating your trunk over the front leg
- 3Balance held through a braced, upright core
Common mistakes
- Letting the front knee drift inward
- Rushing the twist and losing control of the descent
- Leaning forward instead of staying tall through the spine
Muscles worked
The bodyweight rear lunge twist mainly works the quads, obliques, and glutes, with the hamstrings, upper abs, lower abs, and calves assisting.
