How to do it

Sit tall on a bench or chair and anchor a resistance band low in front of you, looping the other end around your ankle. Start with your knee bent, then extend your leg to straighten your knee against the band, squeeze your quad, and lower under control.

  1. 1Drive through your knee to straighten the leg; you should feel your
  2. 2quadriceps contracting hard against the band
  3. 3Pause and squeeze at the top, then lower slowly to feel a stretch
  4. 4Keep your torso upright and your thigh pinned to the seat

Common mistakes

  • Do not snap your knee straight and lock out abruptly; stay controlled
  • Avoid leaning back or swinging to fling the leg up
  • Do not let the band recoil and yank your leg back down
