How to do it
Stand on one end of a resistance band and hold the other end overhead with the same-side arm extended. Bend sideways away from the standing foot, stretching the loaded oblique, then pull your torso back upright using your obliques against the band.
- 1Feel your obliques engaging as you bend sideways against band resistance
- 2Keep your hips square and your spine tall
- 3Focus on squeezing your side at the peak contraction
Common mistakes
- Avoid rotating your torso or leaning forward
- Don't bend backward; only to the side
- Avoid using momentum; move slowly
