How to do it
Anchor a resistance band low behind an incline bench and lie back holding a handle in each hand at upper-chest level. Press the handles up and together until your arms are extended, then lower under control to your upper chest.
- 1Your upper chest and triceps pressing the band up from the incline
- 2Your shoulder blades pulled together and down to engage your pecs
- 3Steady band tension as you press straight up and lower to the upper chest
Common mistakes
- Flaring your elbows too wide; keep them at a comfortable angle
- Arching your back excessively off the bench
- Letting the band snap you back down; control the descent
