How to do it
Anchor a resistance band low behind you and lie back on a decline bench with your feet secured. Hold the band ends near your chest, then curl your torso up by contracting your abs against the band tension. Lower back down under control and repeat.
- 1Feel your abs working against the band tension as you curl up
- 2Keep constant pull on the band through the full range
- 3Drive the movement from your core, not your hip flexors
Common mistakes
- Don't yank yourself up with momentum or your arms
- Avoid pulling on your neck as you rise
- Don't let the band snap you back down; control the descent
Muscles worked
The band decline sit-up mainly works the upper abs, with the lower abs, obliques, and hip flexors assisting.
