How to do it
Stand on a balance plate or wobble board with feet about hip width and a soft bend in the knees. Hold a tall, steady posture and let your feet and ankles make small corrections to keep the plate level and your body still.
- 1Ankles and feet making constant small corrections
- 2Core bracing gently to hold you upright
- 3A tall, centered posture over the plate
Common mistakes
- Locking the knees rigidly instead of staying soft
- Looking down at your feet; pick a fixed point ahead
- Tensing the whole body; let the ankles do the adjusting
Muscles worked
The balance plate standing mainly works the lower abs, with the calves, tibialis anterior, lower back, upper abs, obliques, quads, and glutes assisting.
