How to do it
Stand tall with your arms bent in front of you. March in place, driving one knee up at a time, and rotate your torso so the opposite side turns toward the lifted knee. Keep a steady marching rhythm and twist from the waist.
- 1Obliques rotating your torso toward each knee
- 2Hip flexors lifting the knee on every step
- 3Core staying engaged through the twist
Common mistakes
- Do not swing your arms loosely without rotating your trunk
- Avoid leaning back as you drive the knee up
- Do not let the twist come only from your arms
Muscles worked
The twist march mainly works the obliques and lower abs, with the upper abs, hip flexors, quads, glutes, and calves assisting.
